Parent Mentors
Community Solutions' Parent Mentors are productive members of our community who have the personal experience combined with expert training to engage, teach and motivate parents to improve their parenting skills in a significant way to leading to stability in the home environment.
Assessment
Parent Mentoring is designed to coach and assist parents in the development of a plan to provide a supportive home environment in which to raise children. The primary emphasis of this intervention is to assess the entire family system in terms of parenting skills and family activities and assist them in addressing obstacles and barriers that presently are resulting in behavioral problems in the school, home, and community. The Parent Mentor in conjunction with a licensed mental health professional (LCSW, LPC, or Licensed Psychologist) uses the North Carolina Family Assessment Scales (NCFAS) to determine a baseline of family functioning. Community Resources
The Parent Mentor has an extensive knowledge of community organizations and agencies that can assist the family in meeting their short-term and long-term goals. One key element of the mentoring service is introducing the family and linking them to the services they need to be successful. This may include:
