A Family Affair
Fitness can be a family affair. The benefits include physical health, mental health and improved mental performance and self esteem. Our resident personal trainer works with young and old alike and specializes in developing realistic and economical plans for each member of the family. Participants in the CS Wellness Program are taught to access different media to record workouts, track physical outcomes and develop a passion for achieving maximum fitness. Program components include:
1. Initial fitness assessment
2. Orientation to tools to monitor progress
3. Weekly check-ins and meetings with the personal trainer
4. Field trips to visit local fitness facilities
5. Weekly group fitness activities
6. Purchase of workout clothing
7. Development of a whole family exercise plan

Obesity and Disease
Movement and exercise are key factors in fighting obesity and diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes. It is for this reason that the CS Fitness Team includes an osteopathic physician and a CHKD nurse. Education in the role exercise and fitness play in long-term health is emphasized throughout the program. Understanding critical blood work markers and the physiology of exercise are taught in group classes. Each participant sets short-term and long-term fitness goals. The use of pedometers, fitness bands and fitness mobile phone aps is explored in detail. Upon completion of the program participants are prepared to continue the good habits learned in the program.
