Our Mentors
A successful mentoring experience should facilitate a mentee’s development by providing an opportunity to learn new skills in a safe environment underpinned by relationship-based support. A key to success is a quality mentor that is capable of serving as a resource to mentees and is enthusiastic in guiding their growth. Our mentors are trained professionals who are skilled in the delicate work of building relationships with youth. They come from a variety of backgrounds, that provide them with the broad life experiences necessary to give meaningful advice. Mentors are focused and work within our time-limited programs to develop in youth skills that promote their success and show them the value of seeking out mentors in other areas of their lives. Evidence-Based Practice The CS Mentoring Academy Model is based upon the program model promoted by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). This model is proven to reduce delinquency and antisocial activity while improving school performance. Detailed information is available at the OJJDP website at www.ojjdp.gov. |
