Given the current status and outbreak of COVID-19, Community Solutions is directing our Community-Based Practitioners (Mentors, Life Coaches, Employment Specialists, etc) to provide services virtually, rather than face-to-face visits and interactions.  This change is being implemented in accordance with guidance provided by Virginia Department of Behavioral Health Services, Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services and the Centers for Disease Control.  We are preparing our staff to effectively provide support and guidance to the clients referred to CS during this difficult time.  Specifically, we are asking our community-based staff to do the following:

  • Provide the number of authorized hours of each case using HIPPA-compliant Zoom, Skype or FaceTime to communicate.  One hour per week may be provided by a phone conversation without video content.
  • Assist the client and guardian in identifying the optimal communication platform and provide guidance in the use of the chosen technology.
  • ALWAYS refer to and document treatment objectives listed on the Individual Service Plan (ISP) to guide conversations, learning activities and client assignments.  All current ISPs will be reviewed and amended as needed to reflect the current environment.
  • Given the current situation and rate of change we are asking all CS Staff to assist clients and caregivers in the development of an "emergency plan" to address emergency situations that may arise in the home/family due to this health crisis. This includes sharing CDC approved information regarding strategies to address the spread of the virus in the home and community.   This will include providing families with emergency contact resources, if needed.
  • Communicate with the referring worker at least once every two weeks via email a short summary of client contacts, client participation level and case status.

Taheima Place:
Our residential treatment home is undergoing continuous sanitation activity and best practices in health and safety have been implemented.

Since our inception in 2000, Community Solutions has operated in a professional manner to improve the lives of our clients and to help them overcome obstacles they face on a daily basis.  We will continue to be there for the community as we work through this latest challenge.

Please call us should you have any questions, (757)461-5098.
